Have you seen the first episode of Rumor Has It Season 2? Please don’t disappoint as I gave you guys well over 48 hours to get in status quo so no excuses 🙏🏾!

For the first timers, Ndani TV’s web series; Rumor Has It debuted in 2016 to amazing reviews. I had no inkling of the “controversial” series till my sister knocked me with the first five episodes and I was glued afterwords.  On the controversial bit, a lot of talk surrounded the series getting inspiration from the scandalous crash of media personality; Toke Makinwa’s marriage. While there is no way the producers will accept such claims, the gist did the series some publicity good.

Season 1 focused on the life of Adaobi (Uru Eke), a successful gossip blogger who gets fed her own medicine as her husband, Akin impregnates another woman and walks out of their marriage . For more on the synopsis of season 1 and 2, CLICK

So guys, Two Colors (episode 1) kicked off on a disappointing note. The hype didn’t match the episode but that’s the awesome thing with series, boring starts don’t count.

The first few scenes…well good but could have been better. I  expected that something pretty scandalous hits us from start just like in episode 1 of season 1 and not wait till the end. We eventually drop jaws before the episode ends but the feeling was sadly not expressly explored.

Episode 1 opens to Ranti ( Jemima Osunde) who is now the full blown villain of Rumor Has It. Ranti has just bought over the domain name and isn’t up for “Osho free” business  implied by Dolapo Mensah (Linda Ejiofor) who meets up with Ranti to drop off her NGO campaign materials for free adverts on the blog. A lot of female hormones burst in various directions in the first scene as Dolapo tries to explain to the obnoxious  manager, that her boss is offering the services for free.

Shortly after the moment between Dolapo and Ranti, we are introduced to Adefemi (singer, Efa Iwara).  The character Adefemi appears to be the smooth talker and charmer who persistently works his charm on Dolapo enough to get her in his bed after just two dates!

Efa’s delivery of this character was a little too mechanical especially when he first introduces himself to Dolapo.

Were YOU surprised that Dolapo and Adefemi had sex ?

I definitely wasn’t! One look at the chemistry and I would have sworn they wouldn’t have managed to get a room!

Moving forward, the editors of this season need to know how their lack of “crisis management” abilities combined with “zero attention to detail” syndrome nearly ruined a good series. Who else would I blame for the apparent discontinuities that the episode suffered?

Take Adefemi and Dolapo’s sex scene for instance; You want to believe that these guys are stark naked beneath the duvet right? Interestingly, a slight turn by Dolapo reveals her black (Nollywood sex scene favorite) tube top. Have a look:

You want more?  I’d oblige you! In another scene, Adefemi requests that Dolapo goes on a dinner date with him to “Blue Fish” restaurant. Unfortunately, the camera angle constantly captures the actual name of the restaurant. Take a look:

I think honestly that the editing slips ruined the balance of the movie especially for critical viewers like myself. Hopefully, subsequent episodes will do better.

On the bright side, you know how soundtracks totally make or mar a  movie? For this season and as is the norm with every other Ndani TV production, the soundtracks were littttt! Although in some scenes, the soundtracks overshadowed the dialogue, because I love the songs, I’d just ignore.

Costuming and makeup was nothing short of great. I particularly loved every single item of clothing and makeup worn by the lead character, Dolapo especially that Ankara dress from the first few scenes.

By the way, did you guys notice that MTV Shuga’s Uzoamaka Aniunoh (Cynthia) is in Rumor Has It  as Elohor? It is almost easy to overlook her because of the hairstyle and clothes but she couldn’t get past my eagle eyes.

SPOILER ALERT!

The sexcapade between Dolapo and Adefemi is a huge set up that Dolapo is yet to discover.

Adefemi is most likely Ranti’s accomplice whose sole aim is to ruin Dolapo’s image and spew all of the juice on Rumor Has It!
