Believe it or not, Marvel holds the reins of onscreen entertainment in the world.

Genre: Comedy/Action/Sci-Fi

If you had your heart shattered by the emotional roller coaster of Avengers: Infinity Wars (April 23rd), Ant-man and the Wasp is Marvel’s million dollar cinematic consolation!

Verdict: 8 Stars

The Ant-man and the Wasp and its endearing shrinkable superheroes is currently one of the world’s top ranking flicks. The love is not coincidental as the movie shoots for the skies with its beautifully told story complete with enough action to remind you that there are bad guys being taken down by larger than life (sometimes) superheroes and just enough humor to force out the pain of the last Marvel release.

Ant-man and the Wasp is amazing for its perfect blend of humor, action and romance. The 118 minutes blockbuster continues, in real time the events of Captain America:Civil War whilst solving the puzzle of Ant-man’s conspicuous absence in Infinity Wars.

Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) or Ant-man is 3 days away from completing his 2 year house arrest for his role in aiding Steve Rogers and violating Sokovia Accords.  Being under house arrest proves Lang can survive in a face off with Marvel’s strongest magician, Doctor Strange especially in his bid to invent ways to not bore his daughter Cassie (Abby Ryder Forsten).

With just a few days to freedom, Lang is WASPed and dragged off in a matchbox-like SUV to the shrinkable laboratory being built by former associate; Hank Pym (Michael Douglas) and Hope van Dyne (Evangeline Lilly). Father and daughter are working on  a Quantum Tunnel to be used to rescue Janet van Dyne ( Hank’s wife and Hope’s mother) who disappeared in the Quantum realm 30 years ago.

The new invention is solidified after Lang sends a voice message to Hank describing his strange dream of  Janet reaching out to her family through him (her only medium as he has been in the Quantum realm).

Shortly after the story swings into action, the villains are introduced as Sonny Burch (Walton Goggins),  Ghost (Hannah John-Kamen) and the FBI.

Whilst you are enjoying Ant-man and the Wasp, look out for Stan Lee’s lines in his surprising cameo appearance.

There is no dull moment in this flick. Thanks to the hilarious misinterpretations  in the dialogue and monologues and body language gimmicks  of various characters. The exciting bit is, not seeing the prequel to Ant-man and the Wasp won’t spoil your chances of enjoying this remarkable piece of art. In all honesty, there are some puzzles only Marvel Cinematic Universe followers can fill. But, these holes are easily stepped over; a luxury you cannot afford before, while or after watching Infinity Wars.

Avid Marvel fans are not strangers to the movie’s post credit scenes. This time, Marvel drags us back to the dissolving to nothingness end of Avengers:Infinity Wars.
